8-Bit Keyboard Cat
Before this morning, I thought that I'd seen all I needed to see from Keyboard Cat. The novelty had worn off, and I'd grown weary of the internet's collection of "play him off" antics. Then, Whitney sent me this video. I'm back, cat. I'm back.

A Day Without Megan Fox
Asylum.com has decided that the media's obsession with Megan Fox has reached critical mass, and the time has to do something about it. The website's staff members have declared August 4th to be "A Day Without Megan Fox," and they promise that no matter what she might do on that day - even if she releases a sex tape - they will not cover it. Apparently this is all an attempt to give some other not-quite-as-hot-but-still-pretty-smokin' lady a chance to shine. Either that or a plea for people like me to pay attention to Asylum.com for more than a few minutes at a time. Success!I have no problem with Miss Megan or the weird things she says, but feel free to let me know if you've hit your saturation point with her yet and which young starlet you'd like the world to ogle on August 4th instead. Hot girls make the world go 'round. Fact.

NIN: The FINAL Final Shows
I'm pretty excited to be giving out Nine Inch Nails tickets this week. It's a rare thing in life to get a second chance to say goodbye, and that's what Trent Reznor is giving us with these final shows in August. Here are a few of his latest thoughts about the end of NIN's touring days, technology and Twitter.
Oh, and if you haven't heard, you can text me to win my NIN tickets (NIN to 99161, texter #500 wins) when you hear Trent say the following during my show: "The way I present Nine Inch Nails - I'm trying to do it with the fan or the music fan in mind... I'm just trying to make the most of it, and I'm very grateful that people are still interested in what I'm up to." It's an interview clip from when I spoke with him last year. Swoon. I'm planning on giving my tickets during the 1pm hour all this week. Good luck!

We Were Jammin'
I really love this picture that my promotions assistant Kevin took last night at the DuPage County Fair. This was right before I brought the Wailers on stage: it was a beautiful night to stand outside with some great people and hear some reggae.
I'm off the air for our annual summer staff meeting/shindig, and I'm entertaining a lovely college friend for the next few days. Hope you have a great weekend full of warm weather memories. (Or whatever passes for warm weather in Chicago this summer. Yeesh.)

Introducing: Bacon Soap
I thought I had seen it all with regards to bacon-related novelties: candles, air fresheners, band-aids, you name it. That was before I learned about the existence of bacon-scented soap:
I can't decide if I would use this (obviously inedible) product or not. On the one hand... BACON. On the other hand, I can't shake the feeling that using this soap would make me feel like I was greasing myself up for the skillet. That's mildly creepy.

The Littlest Mega Man
My Monday has been made infinitely better by this video. One adorable child. One classic video game character. A lot of "pews." Internet gold.
Thanks to Joey O for sending this along!

Cats Control Humans!
I spent last weekend in Rhode Island with my family, enjoying warm weather, cookouts, and conversation. We golfed in my aunt's backyard. We ate at a restaurant with a talking buffalo AND a talking moose. We made up lyrics to Ben Folds' "The Luckiest." (Sample: "Steeeve is... Steeeve is... Steeeve is... the awesome-est." It was a great time and provided memories that will last long past summer's end.
Since my brother Steve IS the awesome-est, he has provided me with a link to an article about how manipulative and sneaky cats actually are. Apparently, our pets have found a way to trick us into giving them what they want by using specific kinds of meows. The article is great not just for its content but also for its headline: perhaps we should fear the cats before we fear the robots. Thanks, Steve.

What Are We Talking About - Practice?
I will never forget the first time I watched Allen Iverson's infamous "practice" press conference. I was just about to graduate from college, and I was living in Providence, Rhode Island. The Celtics had just bounced the Sixers from the playoffs. My dear friend (then boyfriend) Brendan and I sat down on his couch, thinking we'd just catch a little SportsCenter, and we ended up staring at the TV in wonderment. It was HIGH-larious. Now, seven years later, that press conference has hit a whooooole other level of entertainment:
Can't. Stop. Watching. This. Video. Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend! Don't talk about practice.
